Pragativahini News, Chikkaballapur: After a gap of nearly three and half months, the famous Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district will be opened for the general public from 1st December said Deputy Commissioner R. Latha.
Speaking after inspecting the new road laid the Deputy Commissioner said over 40 meters of connecting road was washed away following heavy rains on the 24th of this month and the district administration took steps to ban the entry of public to hill station.
The administration took up laying of the road on prioirity basis and completed the 45 meters stretch in three months time she said and added that all precautions are being taken to allow free passage of rain water. The hills were closed for the general public on the 25th of August following land side and collapse of connecting road. Nearly 40 meters of road connecting Chikkaballapur and the hills were washed away and the aluminum barricades, culverts were also destroyed owing to heavy rains the previous night.
The Deputy Commissioner R Latha said the road will be opened for the general public from 1st December. She said the hills will be closed for general public on weekends. However those who have already booked their rooms at the hill station will be allowed during weekends she said.
She further said the district administration has already taken a decision to limit the passage of vehicles onto hill station and 350 four wheelers and 500 two wheelers will be allowed on to the top of the hills. Every vehicle would be intercepted at the entrance and only those with pass would be allowed to the hills she said. She further said general public on obtain pass by both off line and on line modes
The Deputy Commissioner further said the district administration has banned all sorts of pastic on the bill station to preserve ecology and she urged the visitors not to litter on the hills thus help up keep of ecology in the hill station. She urged the people to follow all guidelines under Covid Appropriate behavior. GK Mithun Kumar, SP Chikkaballapur said police department has made elaborate arrangements at the hills station and action would be initiated against those who flout Covid guidelines.
