*DCM D K Shivakumar gives away prize money to government school students topping SSLC exams*

Pragativahini News, *Bengaluru *: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today gave away prize money of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh to two government high school students who secured first and third place in the SSLC exams.
The Deputy Chief Minister announced the prize money for Ankita and Navneet, who secured first and third place respectively in the recently concluded SSLC exams. Ankita is a student of a government school in Mudhol of Bagalkote district and Navneeth is a student of a government school in Mandya. The prize money cheques were given to the students who, along with their families, visited the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence in Sadashivanagar on his invitation.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “I was delighted and proud to see Ankita, a student of government high school, scoring 625/625 in SSLC. The students and teachers in our government schools are very capable. I had spoken to Ankita and her father Basavaraju and had invited them to visit me. I congratulate Ankita and her parents for this achievement. I am handing over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh for her higher education.”
“Navneeth, a student of government high school in Mandya, has secured third place in the SSLC exam. I am giving him a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to pursue his further education. I wish him all the best in his future,” he added.
“My aim is to develop world class Karnataka Public School to benefit students in rural areas. We are planning to build these schools using CSR money from corporates, without using government funds. We will be calling for a meeting to build these schools once the elections are over. Construction of 20 schools in Ramanagara district has already commenced and it will be rolled out to the entire state soon,” he said.
