Pragativahini News, Belagavi – A 25-year young male from Goa got a new lease of life after successful heart transplant by the team of Cardiac Surgeons lead by Dr. Richard Saldanha at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital, Belagavi on 16th March, 2022. The heart of a Brain-dead man from Belagavi was transplanted to the young Goan. This is the 3rd successful heart transplant and the first Goan to undergo heart transplant at KLES Hospital.
Briefing to media on discharge of patient Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chairman of the KLE Society said, we are committed to extend world class health care at a bare minimum cost. He highlighted that philosophy of the KLE Society is selfless service to humanity. He said the cost of heart transplant is Rs, 20-25 lakh in Metro cities, but our Society Hospital provides the same procedure at Rs. 10 lakhs, which is the standing testimony of our commitment to the needy people.
Dr. Richard Sadhana, Chief Cardiac Surgeon stressed, Heart Transplant is a gigantic team effort which involved specialists from Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Cardiac Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Intensivists, Transplant Coordinators, Perfusionists, Operation room & ITU nurses, Technicians, Mohan Foundation and Jeevasarthakathe.
Shivam’s family has expressed profound thanks to the donor family and the team of surgeons lead by Dr. Richard Saldanha. Govt. of Goa (Goa Mediclaim) has contributed substantial fund for the heart transplant.
