*Workout formula to protect interest of both consumers and farmers: CM Bommai*

Pragativahini News, Bengaluru : Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he instructed Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to work out a formula which will not burden consumers as well as not cause injustice to farmers.
The CM said he collected information about the prevailing prices of milk in other states, expenditure incurred by KMF, reasons for hike in milk price, leakages in the  federation, steps taken by the authorities to plug that leakage. The KMF was asked to come out with a compromising formula that will benefit both farmers and consumers within two days, and take necessary decision in KMF Board of directors meeting. “Let us not hike the milk price by Rs 3 per litre and the KMF must take a suitable decision by protecting interest of consumers as well as farmers”.
The CM said the KMF is a subsidiary of Government, has been giving incentive to farmers as well as the milk to school children. The government must also protect the interest of farmers and consumers. The federation was given suitable direction. It is true that the milk price keeps changing but  as the private dairies are also in this field and competing with the KMF. In view of all these factors, the federation was asked to take an appropriate decision.
