Achievements of Kannadigas must be recognised: CM Bommai
Science has grown in Kannada also
Pragativahini News, Bengaluru : The Kannadigas have made big achievements in the Kannada literature and culture and such persons must be identified, opined Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking after unveiling the statue of Kannada Thayi Bhuvaneshwari in premises of Kannada Sahitya Parishat here on Thursday, he said they recognise those achievers in any other country but they must also identify persons striving for the cause of Kannada abroad. There will be no threat to Kannada language if they are proud of it. Kannada language will remain as long as the Sun and the moon exist. Whatever has to happen in what time will definitely happen. The statue of the Goddess Bhuvaneshwari has been installed during the tenure of Dr Mahesh Joshi.
The CM said Kannada is one of the oldest languages in the world and Kannada is also a script of god. The reason why Kannada language is so rich is because it is nearer to life and filled with emotions.
Kannada Ekikarana movement
Bommai said Karnataka would not have become one if Ekikarana (Unificiation) movement was not launched by creating awareness about the Kannada language. Had Andanappa DoddaMeti, Adargunchi Shankagoudar not sat on hunger strike Karnataka would not have been united. Justice Shivraj Patil had served as chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court and the people of that state would remember him even now. The need of the hour was to introduce such great personalities to the present generation.
Science has grown in Kannada also
He said the fields of Science and Technology have grown beyond the borders and not only that even it has grown in Kannada language also. That needs to be strengthened. Language grows out of music, literature and culture and the culture of Karnataka is supreme.
‘Must grow as the most respected language in world’
He said culture must grow as the civilization grows. The meaning of civilisation means from a bullock cart to car and like this, civilisation has grown. Earlier, the grains were crushed in the stone grinders and women would sing songs doing this work, but now the mixie has come. So, the culture has to grow side by side with civilization. Thanks to the blessings of Goddess Bhuvaneshari, Karnataka has a rich cultural heritage. The Kannada language must emerge as the most respected language in the world.
A Bill to give priority to Kannada
Bommai said a Bill which will give priority to Kannada will be tabled in the Belagavi session to be held next month, and will get it passed after a debate. Besides, honest efforts will be made for its implementation.
Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Shivaraj Patil, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr Mahesh Joshi, Manipal Media’s Sandhya Pai, Almond Kittel, a family member of Rev Ferdinand Kittel and others were present.
