Pragativahini News, Sirsi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said it has been decided to establish a super-specialty hospital in Kumta for the benefit of people of coastal area taluks since a medical college is functioning in Karwar. The grants required for the hospital will be released and a foundation stone will be laid for the project soon.
He disclosed this after laying the foundation stone for various developmental works in Sirsi taluk as well as the felicitation to the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri here on Sunday.
For the first time in the State, Environment University will be established in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district to undertake a detailed study on the environment, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Since forest and Horticulture colleges are located here both will be affiliated and establish Environment University to study horticulture, agriculture, biodiversity, wildlife protection, development of people, and balancing nature. Along with the Environment University, facilities will be provided to study arts, commerce, and science. It will be a composite university with a specialization in the environment. The grants will be announced in the coming budget. It is a gift for the people of this region. Universities with the latest technology, digitalization, and distance education have been established. Under the green budget, Rs 100 crore has been reserved and that money will be spent on the useful programs of the North Karnataka region.
No forced evacuation
Bommai said development works worth Rs 800 crore are in progress. A case related to the protection of rights of the forest dwellers is pending in the Supreme Court and it is in the final stages. An affidavit has been filed in this regard. At any cost, the government will not allow the forced evacuation of forest dwellers. The officials have been asked to bring this to his notice before taking any action in this regard. “Don’t be scared…there is no question of causing you any problems”.
