"Sitara Ratna" Rahimat Khan's 68th death anniversary
Pragativahini News, Dharwad : The founder of Bharatiya Sangeet Vidyalaya and legendary sitar player of the music world, “Sitara Ratna” Rahimat Khan’s 68th death anniversary today. He belonged to Dharwad Gharana, A musical program started at Srijana, Dharwad: Annaji Rao Sirura Theater for three days, 5.30 pm every day.
On Saturday at 5.30 pm there will be a concert by Pune-based Hindustani singer Shashwati Chauhan, who will be accompanied by Sridhara Mandre (tabla) and Basavaraja Hiremath (harmonium).
This will be followed by a jugalbandi by Vidwan Nagaraj and Manjunath on violin. Vidwan Jayachandra Rao will perform duet on Mridanga and Rajendra Nakod on Tabla.
On Sunday at 9.30 am there will be singing by Ustad Raees Balekhan from Pune. Ustad Uday Kulkarni (Tabala) and Guruprasad Hegde (Harmonium) will provide the accompaniment. Later there will be a Bharatanatyam program by Vidushi Priya Ganesh, Vidwan Anilkumar, Avani and Shalomi from Bangalore.
The program will begin at 5 pm with a singing jugalbandi by Naushad and Nishar Harlapura of Shimoga. Ustad Nissar Ahmed plays tabla and Basavaraja Hiremath plays harmonium. After this, Ustad Rafeeq Khan from Mangalore and Satyendra Solanki from Bhopal will conduct sitar and santoor jugalbandi with Rajendra Nakod playing tabla.
