CM holds a meeting with VISL workers

All efforts to save the steel factory, assure CM Bommai

Pragativahini News, Shivamogga, Feb.08:  All efforts will be made to save the Visvesvaraiah Iron & Steel Plant and it requires the cooperation of everyone, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Talking to a delegation of workers from VISL who met him here on Wednesday, he said the VISL has been an important factory. Several PSUs had been shut down due to globalization. Thanks to former CM, B.S.Yediyurappa, the VISL has survived.

Make efforts to stop its closure

The CM said the closure process of this factory has been initiated by the Government of India under the disinvestment scheme and this is a matter of concern. The iron ore of Karnataka is in demand. If the Jindal factory has to grow taller, the VISL must survive and efforts will be made to have it functional. Firstly, the government will try to stop the closure process and then it will hold talks with other companies.
