Emergency training for Police by IMA, Belagavi

Over 70 police personnel participated in the training

Pragativahini News, Belagavi – In an effort to save life of a victim in case of poisoning, burn, cardiac arrest or any emergency situations, Basic Life Support (BLS) training was organized by Indian Medical Association, Belgaum branch at IMA, Hall on 15th Dec, 2022.
The participating Police Officials got hands on training, were given sufficient exposure on management of medical emergencies & are empowered to  handle emergencies efficiently and save the lives of needy people.
The team of Doctors from KLE Centenary Charitable Hospital, Yellur Road Belagavi demonstrated & trained the police officials.  The participants were explained in great detail how to handle; anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. The required knowledge, finer aspects of technique and skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were demonstrated and later Police personnel actively conducted CPR exercises. Over 70 police personnel who participated in the training sessions are being deputed for forth coming assembly sessions at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha.
Resource Persons:
Basic life support & hands on training was demonstrated by Dr Santosh Karmasi  & Dr Basavraj Kudsomannavar  from KLE CC Hospital, Yellur Road. Dr Neha Kulkarni also trained on CPR techniques. Management of Poisoning, snake bites was explained in great detail by Senor Physician,  Dr Ujwala Halgekar. Dr. Darshan Rajput presented management of burn cases. Dr. Heman Koujalgi, Metugd Hospital demonstrated finer aspects of handling road traffic accident victims.
 Dr Rajashree Anigol, introduced the guests, IMA President Dr Swapna Mahajan & Secretary Dr Hemant Koujalgi welcomed the chief guest. Shri. Ravindra Gadadi, IPS, DCP (Law & Order), Belagavi City & Shri. N.V. Baramani, ACP- Market Sub Division, Belagavi City along with 70 police staff took part in training. Speaking after the training Ravindra Gadadi, IPS thanked the KLE Hospital doctors in particular & IMA at large for organising very useful training session for police staff. It would serve our purpose while on emergency duties opined Gadadi.
 Basavaraj Bijjargi, Treasurer IMA, Dr Anigol, Dr Namrata Kutre, Dr Satish Bagewadi, Dr Smita Koujalgi, Dr Milind Halgekar handed over list of emergency items to be kept in the first aid box. Shri. Ninganagouda Patil, Police Inspector, CCB, Belagavi city coordinated the event.  Dr Hemant Koujalgi proposed vote of thanks.
